Justin Burton, a depraved paedophile and rapist who exploited a vulnerable adolescent, has been sentenced to ten years in prison.
Detectives have commended the victim’s remarkable courage in assisting them to unveil Justin Burton’s offences.
A police inquiry was initiated against the 48-year-old following the revelation of his actions.
The sexual abuse occurred in Nottinghamshire in June of this year.
Authorities promptly identified Justin Burton as the perpetrator and apprehended him the following day after the crime.
The victim had remarkable courage by approaching the police to disclose the incident.
Justin Burton, whose residence is unspecified, refuted the allegations of rape and sexual assault levelled against him, leading to a trial earlier this month.
The testimony provided by the victim provided the police with evidence needed to convince the jury to find Justin Burton guilty of both offences last Wednesday (11 December).
He returned to Nottingham Crown Court to be sentenced this Thursday, where he was told he will spend the next ten years in prison, while his name will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
Detective Constable Harry Cooper, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The victim has shown incredible strength since their ordeal and played a central role in helping put Justin Burton in prison for his despicable crimes.
“While I know nothing will ever make up for what happened, I sincerely hope that the fact Burton will now spend a lengthy period behind bars will provide both them and their family with some small degree of comfort.”
