Richard Simon Morris, a prolific paedophile, has been incarcerated after being discovered with over a thousand obscene photos of children.

Richard Simon Morris, 59, from Bournemouth, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, November 29, 2024, after pleading guilty to three charges of possessing indecent pictures of children.

Richard Simon Morris received a sentence of two years and eight months in jail, accompanied by an extended licence period of an additional 18 months.

On Wednesday, June 28, 2023, an offender management and his associate visited Richard Simon Morris, a registered sex offender under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, at his residence.

The officers requested to examine his phone, and the defendant presented a different device than the one he had been observed using minutes prior. They confronted Richard Simon Morris, and upon his display of the other device, the officers observed what they perceived to be lewd photographs.

Richard Simon Morris was apprehended, and several electronic devices were confiscated.

The offender was granted bail, and on a subsequent visit to his residence on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, an examination of a mobile phone once more uncovered alleged indecent photographs.

Officers discovered almost 1,500 obscene photographs of minors. A total of 282 photographs were classified as Category A, 446 as Category B, and 811 as Category C, encompassing both accessible and inaccessible images.

Detective Constable Phillip Riggs of the Paedophile Online Investigation Team stated: “Richard Morris is a recidivist who persistently accessed illicit images despite being a registered sex offender and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, demonstrating a blatant disregard for his prior offences and the judicial sanctions imposed upon him.”
