Cameron Hassan Ammanford Rapist
Cameron Hassan Ammanford Rapist

A MAN, Cameron Hassan, who filmed himself sexually assaulting a sleeping woman has received a ten-year prison sentence.

Cameron Hassan altered his plea to guilty on the second day of his trial subsequent to the jury viewing the disturbing footage.

Cameron Hassan documented his victims’ genitalia prior to filming himself committing anal rape, accompanied by a continuous stream of derogatory remarks and profanities.

The rape, occurring in Ammanford on August 21, 2021, was documented on the victim’s phone.

The court was informed that during a police interview following his detention, Cameron Hassan asserted that the sexual encounter was part of a role play and that his victim was not asleep at the time.

Nonetheless, Cameron Hassan, 32, without a permanent residence, altered his plea prior to his victim’s testimony last May.

His Honour Judge Geraint Walters was informed that Cameron Hassan possessed an extensive criminal history, having appeared in court 39 times for a total of 92 criminal crimes.

While none of these allegations pertained to sexual offences, some involved acts of aggression and threats of harm against women.

In a victim impact statement presented to the court, Cameron Hassan’s victim reported experiencing insomnia, nocturnal perspiration, and distressing dreams.

She experienced depression and had been prescribed medicine for it. The assault had engendered significant trust issues, resulting in her estrangement from friends.

She was averse to social interaction and harboured distrust towards others. She was concerned about the impact of the assault on future relationships and experienced problems with intimacy, feeling discomfort when someone attempted to embrace her.

She stated that the trial had inflicted months of agony onto her.

She expressed a desire that he had admitted culpability from the outset.

I have endured ten months of distress, apprehensive about discussing the events in a courtroom filled with spectators. I have become physically unwell due to anxiety.

In mitigation, the court acknowledged that Hassan had shown remorse for his actions and was appalled by his conduct and the resultant harm inflicted.

The court was informed that Cameron Hassan expressed his intention to utilise the support services provided in prison.

Currently, you exhibit a lack of respect for women, stated Judge Walters.

It is difficult to conceive of a more profound act of degradation towards a woman than what I witnessed and heard in that picture.

Cameron Hassan received a ten-year prison sentence for the rape offence at Swansea Crown Court on Thursday, June 23. The court determined that he will serve three-quarters of his sentence.

He received a concurrent three-month prison sentence for the act of transmitting a threatening message. The court was informed that he had promptly pleaded guilty to this offence, which pertained to a separate victim.

Senior Investigating Officer DI Melanie Havard stated that the victim exhibited remarkable resilience and resolve during the inquiry and trial.

She expressed admiration for her remarkable bravery in coming out and the perseverance demonstrated during the investigation.

The victim has conveyed her gratitude to the officer involved in the case for her help and empathy during this challenging procedure, acknowledging the difficulty faced by all parties.
