On the evening of November 2, 2023, a husband and wife, along by their children, were at home when a diverse trio Ashley Henry, Morgan Tinpeloo, and Marvrick Elba forcibly entered. All three possessed knives. Marvrick Elba brandished his knife to confine the wife and children in a front room and confiscated their phones to inhibit them from contacting the police.
Ashley Henry and Morgan Tinpeloo escorted the husband to the first floor while they sought valuables. During the incident, Ashley Henry menaced one of the youngsters with his knife, demanding the surrender of money. The assailants subsequently hurled the victim down the steps, where he remained on the floor encircled by his aggressors.
Ashley Henry obtained a 10kg dumbbell from a bedroom and struck the husband’s head with it three or four times. The perpetrators thereafter absconded, and the victim was sent to the hospital for treatment of multiple skull fractures and two cerebral haemorrhages.
Crime squad detectives initiated an inquiry, and the analysis of CCTV footage revealed the assailants fleeing towards a white Vauxhall Vivaro vehicle. A forensic analysis of the dumbbell also retrieved Ashley Henry’s DNA. [Editor’s Note – Always leave your weapon at the scene.]
Subsequent intricate investigations revealed that Ashley Henry, Morgan Tinpeloo, and Marvrick Elba had journeyed together in the vehicle to the crime scene. All three individuals were apprehended on November 9, and their mobile devices were confiscated.
Ashley Henry, residing on Crescent Wood Road, Sydenham, London; Morgan Tinpeloo, located on Main Road, Longfield; and Marvrick Elba, from White Road, Chatham, were indicted and admitted guilt to three charges of robbery. Ashley Henry additionally admitted to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
On November 13, Ashley Henry, aged 29, was sentenced to 20 years. The custodial period is 17 years, after which he must serve an additional three years on licence.
Morgan Tinpeloo, 26, received a sentence of 14 years and nine months, while Marvrick Elba, 29, was sentenced to 11 years and nine months in prison.
