Ben Hanger, a convicted sex offender who molested a youngster in Gillingham, has received an extended prison sentence. Ben Hanger perpetrated violence on the girl from 2016 to 2017.
The offences were reported to Kent Police in 2021. Ben Hanger, 34, was apprehended at HMP Elmley, where he is serving a 15-year extended term subsequent to his conviction in December 2022. He was incarcerated following his attempt to abduct a schoolgirl in January 2021.
Ben Hanger, residing at St Agnes Gardens, Sheerness, confessed to committing sexual assault on a minor under the age of 13 and persuading her to participate in sexual activity. He received a four-year prison sentence at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, December 4.
He was additionally mandated to serve five more years under supervision. The supplementary sentence will be appended to his total years of incarceration.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Thabi Hollingsworth said: ‘Ben Hanger is a dangerous man with predatory pattern of behaviour, and I’m pleased he has been sentenced accordingly.‘He scared his young victim and told her to keep quiet, but I want to commend her bravery in reporting his offending and ensuring that he was held accountable for his offending.
“Kent Police will always investigate reports of sexual abuse, no matter how recent, and there are specially trained officers who will ensure investigations are carried out diligently and sensitively. I would encourage anyone who wishes to report similar offending to do so and to ensure an investigation can be started and perpetrators can be held to account.”
