A connoisseur, Bradley Somerville, of baby rape and child torture images and videos has walked free from court to continue his “hobby”.

Bradley Somerville was discovered to possess a reprehensible collection of child sexual abuse images on his mobile device.

Between 2019 and 2022, Bradley Somerville downloaded photos, some of which were of the most egregious nature, on the messaging service Kik. The 29-year-old was apprehended in November 2022, during which his mobile device was confiscated.

A court was informed that 19 illicit photographs were found on the device, including four of the most severe category involving penetrative sexual acts. Bradley Somerville, residing on Ravensworth Street in Bedlington, appeared in South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court this week to enter a guilty plea to three charges of producing obscene pictures of a child.

Prosecutor, Paul Anderson, said the photos were downloaded while Somerville was living in Ashington. Mr Anderson added: “On November 14 2022, police arrest the defendant and seized his mobile phone and uncover four category A images, five B images and 10 C images.

“The sentencing guidelines for category A images is 12 months in custody.” The court heard that Somerville, who has no past convictions, had been sent a link to the photos and had downloaded them.

Paul Dunn, defending, said Bradley Somerville had deleted the pictures when he realised what they contained. The solicitor also said he’d pleaded guilty and was remorseful.

The paedophile sympathising magistrates gave Bradley Somerville an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered him to do 40 hours of unpaid work.

Apparently Bradley Somerville does not need to be on the sex offenders register which is great news for him but bad news for vulnerable children.
