Found guilty of all charges and imprisoned is a controlling abuser charged with several offences, including rape, causing great bodily harm with intent, engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour, harassment, disclosing or threatening to disclose private sexual images with intent to cause distress, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
For more than five years, James Wilson physically and psychologically mistreated the woman, dictating her life and leaving her living under constant anxiety about his future actions.
Wilson routinely attacked the woman over those five years, mostly hitting and kicking her while intoxicated by drugs and alcohol. Wilson once purposefully donned pyramid rings to do maximum damage.
Another attack used a baseball bat, breaking her foot and seriously swelling her shin and knee.
Wilson often sexually assaulted the woman, and his offending grew more severe throughout that period.
Stopping the woman from visiting her family, the 22-year-old dominated all elements of her life. Wilson repeatedly shattered the windows of the woman’s parent’s house and targeted attacks upon her family.
Wilson carried on his mistreatment even after the lady obtained a restraining order against him, shared personal images of her on social media, and threatened to kill her with a shotgun should she contact the police.
He denied the offences, but after a Crown Court trial, he was convicted guilty of all counts.
Wilson, who appeared at Teesside Crown Court Fri 10th May, was sentenced to fourteen years overall.
