After admitting more charges, a man from Rotherham who is already serving a 23-year jail term for raping and indecently assaulting young girls has been given a longer sentence.
Once of Godstone Road, 42 Mohammed Imran Ali Akhtar was found guilty in 2018 after an Operation Stovewood National Crime Agency investigation.
He was found guilty of leading a group that befriended girls before taking drugs and alcohol and subsequently mistreating them. Akhtar had deliberately “targeted and groomed” his victims, a judge declared.
After his sentence, another victim came forward claiming that, between 2001 and 2003, Akhtar had sexually attacked her indecently and raped her starting when she was 13 years old.
The NCA looked at things and asked for more charges against him. At a court hearing in October, Akhtar finally accepted two further counts of rape and two of indecent assault.
Today, Friday, 24 May, a judge at Sheffield Crown Court sentenced him to eight years for the indecent assaults and twelve years for the rape offences, running concurrently with his initial jail term but most likely means he stays in prison for longer before being considered for parole.
